Utdrag
Throughout her entire life, Mrs. Foster had been plagued by an intense and nearly obsessive fear of missing any mode of transportation, be it a train, plane, or boat.
She would always make sure to be ready to leave the house at least thirty minutes before it was time to depart, unable to sit still in the meantime.
Her anxiety would manifest in her pacing around the house until her husband, who would often be working in his study, emerged.
Unfortunately, Mr. Foster found his wife's behavior to be rather silly and would often exacerbate her anxiety by deliberately making her wait for him. This only served to make Mrs. Foster even more miserable.
Despite her fears, Mrs. Foster was determined to visit her daughter, who lived in Paris with her grandchildren.
She longed to leave her life in New York behind and settle in Paris permanently, but her husband was staunchly opposed to the idea.
It was a small miracle that he had even allowed her to travel alone to visit her family for a six-week period.
