Summary of the book ”Matilda”:
Roald Dahl's beloved classic "Matilda" follows the story of a bright young girl named Matilda, who unfortunately lives with a less-than-loving family: the Wormwoods.
Her father, Mr. Wormwood, runs a sketchy used car dealership where he constantly swindles his customers.
Meanwhile, Matilda's mother, Mrs. Wormwood, is addicted to playing bingo and spends most of her days away from home at the local bingo hall.
Despite her bleak home life, Matilda's intelligence and determination lead her on a magical journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Matilda enjoyed spending her free time at the library, reading books and exploring new worlds within the pages.
She would often lose track of time and before she knew it, the sun would be setting and it was time to head home.
At the age of five and a half, Matilda started school for the very first time. She was going to attend Crunchem Hall Primary School, a place that would change her life forever.
The head teacher, Miss Trunchbull, was known for her strict and sometimes cruel behavior towards the students.
Matilda was placed in the bottom class along with eighteen other children, all eager to learn and make new friends.
Their teacher, Miss Jennifer Honey, was kind and patient with the children, always willing to help them understand new concepts and ideas.
On the first day of school, Miss Honey gave the class a test on the two-times table. Matilda quickly recited the entire table, not stopping until she reached two times twenty-eight.
Impressed, Miss Honey asked Matilda if she could do two times four hundred and eighty-seven, and Matilda answered correctly without hesitation.
Miss Honey was astonished that such a young girl could be so intelligent. After class, Miss Honey approached Miss Trunchbull to share her discovery about Matilda's exceptional intellect.
However, Miss Trunchbull, a notorious child-hater with a mysterious past, refused to allow Matilda to advance to higher classes.
Miss Trunchbull cited Matilda's father, who had allegedly described his daughter as a "little brat," as the reason for her decision.
Miss Honey visits Matilda's parents to discuss her incredible intelligence, but they are unaware of their daughter's abilities. Mr. Wormwood dismisses Miss Honey's claims and insists Matilda is unintelligent.
