Utdrag
You were given a piece of paper which had your cause of punishment written on it.
These papers had to be handed to one of the headmasters at the school, in addition to that they would punish you for the whole school to see.
It was considered the best way to discipline the students and prevent them from acting up and breaking the rules.
But is corporal punishment actually a decent way of disciplining the students?
Well, considering the fact that no one that is in their right mind would want to get humiliated in front of the whole school, and beaten up to the point where they can’t feel the pain anymore and be sore for a while afterwards, corporal punishment does have an impact on the behavior of the students, as it is preventing them from carrying actions that are considered bad, because they fear the consequences and the outcome of it.
But on the other side, it is scary and unnecessary to use violence as a punishment against young children.
It could easily lead to being a traumatic experience, because they constantly have a fear of getting a horrible punishment for one wrong move, at such a young age.
It would definitely not be a good idea to invest in allowing corporal punishment in Norwegian schools, as the consequences of breaking the rules as of today, are decent enough as it is and it seems to be a good way of disciplining students.
In conclusion, there are far more disadvantages of having corporal punishment at Norwegian schools.
