Utdrag
Task 1
To me, culture means somebody’s shared identity and values with other people.

It can be certain foods, a way to dress, how you speak and so on. I think people use their culture to feel safe and at home, no matter where they are.

If all the people on earth were put it one area, I think people with the same values and culture would quickly group up.

Task 2
Code-switching is when someone switches to another language mid-sentence.

For example, in Norwegian it is common to say words such as: chill, smooth etc. because they don’t know any other words for it, or they just don’t like the Norwegian counterpart.

Task 3
To describe a nation as a “Beautiful Mosaic” means that there’s a mix of ethnicities, languages and cultures that coexist.

A Mosaic is a picture that is made up of small, colorful pieces put together to look beautiful.

Task 4
The American Dream
The American dream is the commonly known idea that America is the place where everyone can succeed if they do the work.

It doesn’t matter where you’re from, whether you’re rich or poor or what culture you’re in, everyone should have the same opportunities and rights to become successful.

People from all over the world admire The American Dream, and a lot of them move to the U.S because they don’t have the same opportunities in their own country.

Latin-Americans from Cuba, Mexico and so on were one of the major groups to immigrate to the U.S to pursue the dream, and it’s one of the reasons that America has so many Latin-Americans.

To achieve The American Dream, you must move to America and work hard towards your goals, and you will eventually reach prosperity and success according to the dream.

A lot of the most famous actors in the world, are people from small countries that made their way to the U.S and hit it big in the movie business.

It’s harder to become famous and successful if you live in a small country with fewer opportunities, and when hard-working people hear about The American Dream, they quickly find a way to move to the U.S.
