Utdrag
In India the rules against the poor are stacked so overwhelmingly that we find violence and crime frequently. This leads to my second topic, self-interest.
In the movie Balram comes to a realization, which is to break out of his nest and sacrifice everything to build himself a future.
He found the right opportunities, utilized them smartly, chose to walk away from traditions and found a solution through murdering his boss.
This is an example of prioritizing self interest in life, shown in the plot twist of the movie. We can compare this to when we give ourselves advantages at the cost of others, in our daily lives.
This can be a minor act such as cutting in line or letting others do your part in a group project.
Our human nature lies in being selfish and greedy at times. We will assure own benefits, even though it is at the expense of somebody else (Adiga, n.d.).
Movies are an excellent way to describe and mirror the real society, but with fiction and suspense. Balram went from the bottom to the top through a sequence of violent choices.
But these were essential to get him to where he stands at the end of the movie, as a successful man.
Troubling his mind were the consequences of the caste system and the corruption in the country, which later compelled him to act and, essentially, kill his boss.
He gains benefits by becoming a successful man, but at the cost of his leader’s life. We see examples of this in countless countries, including India.
The White Tiger casts light upon these social challenges, which many countries struggle with today.
