Innledning
Tupac Shakur was born in the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York, in the year 1971. As a child, he was affectionately referred to as the "black prince" by those around him.
At the age of two, Tupac's sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, was born into the family. Interestingly, Tupac's stepfather, Mutula Shakur, was a member of the Black Panther Party.
However, shortly before Sekyiwa's birth, Mutula was incarcerated for a fatal armored car robbery, and sentenced to a staggering 60 years in prison.
Utdrag
Back in 1994, Tupac played a role in the film "Above the Rim" and his new group Thug Life recorded the popular song "Pour Out a Little Liquor" for the movie's soundtrack.
However, tragedy struck later that year on November 30th when Tupac was shot five times at a recording studio in Times Square.
There are various speculations about what exactly transpired, but one theory suggests that Tupac mistook three men for his security and let them follow him into the elevator.
They then pulled out guns and demanded that he hand over his jewelry and get down on the floor. In the ensuing struggle, Tupac was shot five times while his manager was hit once.
He was taken upstairs, where he encountered well-known personalities, including his best friend Biggie and Sean "Puffy" Combs (aka P. Diddy).
Tupac noted that nobody rushed to his aid, and he felt as if they were taken aback that he had survived.
Tupac's girlfriend was the one who contacted the authorities, and the robbers made off with $40,000 worth of gold.
Tupac did not directly accuse Biggie of being involved in the shooting, but he was disappointed that his friend had not given him any warning.
The day after the incident, Tupac appeared in court on sexual assault charges and was sentenced to four years in jail.
