The topic of family is an interesting one. It is a theme based only on personal feelings and own experiences. A question where every answer is right.
A big part of the movie: “The Hate U Give” is about family and who you classify as a family member. This begs the question... what is family?

Have you ever heard of the phrase: “Blood is thicker than water”? If you have not, it dwells on the idea of family, primarily the same topic we are discussing now.
Keeping it short, the phrase tells us that family (blood) is more important than friends/other people (water).
Although this seems like a simple concept, the question still stands, what is family? In, “The Hate U Give” we see the main character:
Starr, and her many friends and family. From what we see, Starr treats her siblings the same as her friends, especially one friend, Khalil, who later dies in the movie.
