Innledning
Greetings, fellow international students of the University of London. I am delighted to be addressing you today. My name is Sophia, and like you, I am currently pursuing my studies at this esteemed institution.

I have been afforded the opportunity to deliver a speech on the subject of illegal immigration in the United States. During my discourse, I will delve into three key aspects.

Initially, I will define immigration and explore its implications for the U.S. Subsequently, I will scrutinize Donald Trump's stance on immigration, followed by an examination of Joe Biden's perspective.

I intend to share my insights for approximately twenty to twenty-five minutes, and I welcome your questions either during the presentation or at its conclusion.

Utdrag
Central to Donald Trump's 2016 election campaign was an endeavor to reshape immigration regulations and restrict immigrants' entry. This issue remained pivotal throughout his presidency.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump implemented measures to suspend immigrant access to permanent residency, purportedly to safeguard American workers amid shutdowns. Immigrant workers' entry was also curtailed.

Critics contend that these actions exploited the pandemic to further anti-immigrant agendas. Trump's stringent stance on deportation garnered substantial criticism.

Jason Stanley, a Yale University philosophy professor, labeled this ideology as "Trumpism," drawing parallels to Ku Klux Klan ideology.

He equates it to a belief that immigrants are brought in to dismantle the white race, asserting that immigration serves a communist plot.

In contrast, Joe Biden deems this as an abuse of power, emphasizing its disproportionate impact on brown and black immigrants.

During the 2020 election campaign, Joe Biden vowed to overturn many of the immigration policies introduced by the Trump administration.

Biden's perspective on immigration diverges markedly from Trump's. Amid the pandemic, while Trump pursued immigration bans, Biden contended that "immigrants help grow our economy and create jobs."
