Thomas Paine, a British-born political thinker and writer, ardently championed revolutionary movements in both the United States and Europe.
His publication in 1776, titled "Common Sense," marked a groundbreaking endorsement of American independence.
The Founding Fathers, a collective of visionary American leaders, forged a union among the Thirteen Colonies.
They spearheaded the war for independence from Great Britain and crafted a republican framework for the nascent United States of America during the late 18th century.
Short biography
Thomas Paine, born in 1737 in England to a Quaker father and an Anglican mother, attended Thetford Grammar School, situated between Cambridge and Norwich.
In 1774, he made the pivotal decision to relocate to America, establishing his residence in Philadelphia.
Then, on June 8, 1809, he undertook another journey, this time to New York City, where, sadly, he passed away and found his final resting place on his own property.
Which events brought him into politics?
Thomas Paine penned a multitude of pamphlets, including the renowned "Common Sense," "The American Crisis," and "Rights of Man," all of which delved into the intricacies of the Revolutionary War.
His fearless political expressions led to his incarceration, yet undeterred, he published another thought-provoking essay titled "The Age of Reason." Paine's deep involvement in the revolution likely propelled him into the realm of politics.
