Innledning
An estimated 2.5 billion people watched Diana´s funeral in 1997. Diana Spencer was and continues to be undoubtedly loved across the globe.
In the wake of Netflix`s recent season of The Crown, people are once again obsessing over her life and story, but how did the shy girl from Sandringham capture all our hearts, what made the Princess of Wales so loved?
Utdrag
Diana was a style icon, a humanitarian, a future queen at some point, but above all she was a mother. Princess Diana valued the role as a mother, over the role and her duty as a royal.
Her mindset lead to some raised eyebrows inward the royal family, however huge respect from the public, especially mothers.
Earlier I mentioned the fact that Diana appreciated authenticity, she wanted to raise her children in the most normal way she could, regardless of the fact that they were royalty.
She broke many royal protocols in doing so, like breastfeeding them as infants or bringing them along on royal tours.
Her two sons, William and Harry attended public school and Diana even walked them to school, which shocked members of the royal family (Erin McDowell, 2020).
“Well, with William and Harry, for instance, I take them round homelessness projects, I’ve taken William and Harry to people dying of AIDS ― albeit I told them it was cancer ― I’ve taken the children to all sorts of areas where I’m not sure anyone of that age in this family has been before.”
