Section B – Essay:
The central themes in "Spilled Salt" revolve around the challenging question: "Should parents always support and defend their children, regardless of the crimes they may have committed?"

It is indeed a difficult question to answer. On one hand, many argue that parents should be able to support, defend, and ultimately forgive their children, regardless of the crimes they have committed.

After all, these children are the ones they have raised and loved, and they remain the same person even after the crime has occurred.

Upon Kenny's return home, Myrna doesn't initially display joy at seeing him. Instead of distancing herself from Kenny, who is reaching out to her, she finds relief that he hadn't suffered severe harm or death during his time in prison, and a part of her feels alive at the sight of him.
