Characterization of Charlie

Innledning
Charlie serves as the central character in the novel, and his narrative unfolds primarily through a series of letters addressed to an unidentified friend.

Charlie's personality is deeply introverted, often characterized as a "wallflower." This is evident in the words of his friend, Patrick, who describes him as such, emphasizing Charlie's quiet and reserved nature (found on page 40, line 31).

In line with Patrick's observation, he adds, "You see things. You keep quiet about them. And you understand" (Page 41, line 5).

This remark underscores Charlie's keen observational skills, his tendency to internalize thoughts rather than express them openly, and his proclivity for recording them—presumably within the letters he writes, which serve as a chronicle of his life.

Throughout the book, we accompany Charlie on a journey of personal growth. Initially, he appears as a lonely, introverted, and emotionally fragile individual, devoid of friends. However, as the narrative progresses, he forms connections with two new friends, Sam and Patrick.
