Utdrag
In the first four paragraphs of this text they talk about how the citizens of a country have a collective right to choose their governmental, political and electoral systems as a aspect of self-determination.

These precepts are embodied in the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) and in modern constitutions the world over.

Stated in the text “There is no democracy without the engagement of citizens”. The rest of the text is about that for democracy to deliver, citizens must be informed about issues that can improve their lives.

Stated in the text “Citizens, including political competitors, must also be free to impart their views about governmental processes and public affairs otherwise citizens cannot be truly informed, nor can they freely make choices”.

Citizens play a huge role in the rule of a democracy and if, citizens don’t engage there is no democracy. This essay is about democracy and I will be talking about what a democracy is, what values democracy is built upon and finally what might challenge democratic values.

As you can see most of the world has democracy as the way of rule. What is a democracy? A democracy means that not just one person or group rule the whole country, but the citizens are also a part and can choose who their president will be.

Most countries that have this type of rule live in more of a peaceful country and are treated equally no matter what.
