Utdrag
The Windrush generation is a group of people who migrated to Britain after the British nationality act was admitted in 1948 that conferred that all members of the commonwealth have a status as British and are allowed to migrate and pick up work in Britain.
This attracted many people and today we call them and their newcomers the Windrush generation. They worked and lived in Britain like everyone else, but during their stay they experienced a lot of unpleasant experiences.
In 2018 the Windrush scandal happened, where they were forced to leave the country and were called illegal immigrants after over 60 years of service in Britain.
After World War Two Britain were facing huge labor shortages, and therefore the government started a campaign and admitted the British nationality act of 1948 which would lead to a huge wave of immigration from the Caribbean to Britain.
The act conferred that all members of the commonwealth are defined by law as British residents and are allowed to migrate, pick up work there and even bring their families. This appealed to the Caribbean´s, which then many migrated to Britain and started a new life there.
Over the years they generated too many immigrants, and the British nationality act from 1981 abolished the definition, and instead replaced with three new categories.
(Anon u.å.) In 1948 the NHS, National Health Service, were established which was a medical and health policy which granted medical care for everyone, funded by the government.
