Innledning
On a pleasant and balmy day in the small coastal town of Bayport, located in southern England, Mark and Susan, who were 12-year-old twins, were fishing at the quay.
The clear blue sky and gentle sea breeze created a serene atmosphere. "Looks like I've caught another one," exclaimed Mark as his fishing-rod bent a little, making it easy for him to reel in the fish.
It turned out to be a small cod, and Mark had caught six already. "That's six for you and none for me," Susan said, sounding a bit dejected.
Mark, trying to cheer her up, said, "Don't worry, you'll catch something soon. We still have three more hours to go before we have to head back home."
Utdrag
As Mark and Susan walked further into the mountain, they realized that the room they had entered was quite expansive, but the only entrance had closed behind them.
Despite their efforts to open the gate, it remained firmly shut, leaving them with no other option than to search for another way out.
With trepidation, they proceeded deeper into the cave, but with every step they took, the space around them grew increasingly narrow.
As they descended, Mark's flashlight suddenly flickered out, enveloping them in complete darkness. Without warning, Susan slipped and fell into Mark, and the two of them tumbled down the steep incline.
Mark whispered Susan's name anxiously, but she didn't respond. He scoured the area, searching for the flashlight.
Fortunately, he managed to locate it and tinkered with it until it finally worked. Illuminated by the light, he spotted Susan lying on the floor a short distance away.
"Susan, wake up!" he shouted. She groggily opened her eyes and sat up, bewildered. "Where am I?" she asked, disoriented.
After Mark recounted the entire ordeal to her, she began to recollect what had happened. Fortunately, both of them had escaped serious injury and only suffered a few scrapes and headaches. After resting for a while, they began to explore their surroundings.
As they explored the dimly lit cave, Mark and Susan stumbled upon a small chest nestled in the corner. "Do you think this could be it, the treasure?"
Mark wondered aloud. Susan attempted to open the chest, but to no avail. "Let me give it a go," Mark said confidently, reaching for his knife. With a steady hand, he tried to force the chest open, hoping to uncover whatever lay inside.
