Innledning
Dear fellow students,

I want to express my gratitude for this opportunity to address you all today at the London School of Economics.

For those of you who may not know me, my name is Marisa Ranthe, and like you, I am a student here at the Department of Media and Communications.

Today, I am going to talk about social media, with a particular focus on social responsibility, a topic of great relevance for all of us studying in this department.

When we think of social media, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp come to mind. Imagine if I were to propose a ban on using such apps in school – how would you react?

Most of you might object to such a ban. Personally, I believe that social media is a fantastic way for people to express themselves. However, in the school environment, I think there should be a ban on using social media.

The reason for this is that social media can distract us from human interaction. If we observe the situation in our school canteen, for example, what do we usually do while eating with friends?

Often, we see students engrossed in their phones, scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, and other apps, not engaging in conversations or making eye contact.
