Innledning
To begin, I extend a warm welcome to all attendees gathered here at the conference in Glasgow. It is truly an honor to witness such a significant turnout of representatives who are eager to engage.

Thank you for gracing us with your presence. Allow me to introduce myself briefly—I am Rebecca Emilie Kramhoeft, an active student in the realm of politics, currently pursuing studies at Aarhus Business College.

The focal theme of today's discourse revolves around the subject of surveillance. I stand as a fervent opponent of specific forms of surveillance, aligning myself with the Democratic Party.

I am confident that everyone present today possesses a degree of familiarity with the concept of surveillance, wouldn't you agree?

Utdrag
The adage "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" is frequently invoked by governments and other entities to rationalize their surveillance endeavors.

In my view, this statement falls short of justifying the imposition of high levels of surveillance upon us. By show of hands, how many of you have encountered this statement before? I see a show of hands from nearly all present, and I must admit that I'm hardly surprised.

At times, I ponder: Is a society reminiscent of Orwell's Big Brother what I truly desire? And have I struck the right balance between preserving my fundamental right to privacy and accommodating surveillance?

To be candid, I harbor no inclination to be part of a Big Brother society. Yet, escaping such a reality poses a quandary. Surveillance, to some extent, does serve a role in enhancing safety. However, at what expense? Our very humanity, our privacy?

Consider the ubiquitous smartphone that most of us carry. What we might overlook are the digital traces we leave behind through our smartphone use, potentially facilitating our tracking by unidentified entities.

An ironic "smart" phone indeed. The internet offers numerous resources that outline the perils of smartphone-based surveillance and suggest ways to safeguard our privacy to a certain extent.

One such resource is "Surveillance Self-Defense." A statement from this resource aptly underscores the issue: "Not only do they do a poor job of protecting your communications, they also expose you to new kinds of surveillance risks—especially location tracking."

A smartphone becomes a powerful tool that inadvertently divulges private aspects of our lives, often without our awareness.
