Adrian, a 13-year-old boy from England, has a deep affection for Pandora. However, there's one problem: his best friend Nigel is dating her. Despite this, Pandora eventually chooses Adrian over Nigel.

Adrian has a passion for writing, especially poetry, and often journals his thoughts. Unfortunately, his parents are not supportive of his hobbies.

Things start to fall apart when his parents get divorced, and his mother moves away with her neighbor, Mr. Lucas, whom Adrian doesn't like. His father also starts drinking after losing his job and becoming unemployed.

Although Adrian is good in school, he has a big problem. There's a bully who is constantly trying to take his money.

One day, Adrian decides to wear red socks to school, which is against the dress code, and the principal sends him home. Pandora is outraged by this rule and organizes a protest with some of her friends to demonstrate against it.
