Innledning
Good morning everyone, and thank you for the invitation. I'm here today joined by my colleagues Jonathan, Nikolaj, Lucas, Tobias and Phillip. We are here to discuss the problem which is the increasing poverty in The United Kingdom.

What if the world's 5th largest economy in the world had enormous issues with poverty, starvation and such? Does not sound very believable does it?

Well as a matter of fact that's the reality with our beloved United Kingdom. As the years pile on it is only getting worse. As the poverty rate is steadily increasing. But do they really see this as an issue?

Utdrag
During a recent parliamentary debate focusing on the pressing issue of poverty, a disheartening observation emerged.

It became evident that a prominent government member, Prime Minister Theresa May, seemed indifferent to the gravity of the situation.

As she deflected the statistics, her response, "The best route out of poverty is to be in the workplace; we want to ensure better paying jobs, and that's what we are seeing in this country," left a bitter taste not only in the mouths of those engaged in the debate but also in the minds of citizens at large.

By swiftly shifting the discussion towards long-term issues, May appeared to sidestep the immediate question at hand, raising concerns about misplaced priorities.

This apparent disregard for the harsh realities of poverty left individuals feeling marginalized and trapped, with little hope for a brighter future.

In the face of mounting concerns about poverty in The United Kingdom, Chancellor Philip Hammond's response, rejecting the idea that vast numbers of people face dire poverty, echoes the evasion witnessed in the parliamentary debate. Dismissing the problem does not make it disappear.

The pressing question remains: How do we compel policymakers, including the chancellor, to recognize the reality of poverty and take action?

Perhaps the solution lies in us, the citizens, demonstrating the extent of the problem and its impact on society. It is incumbent upon us to show the politicians the true face of poverty, taking matters into our own hands.
