1. She is a 37-year-old teacher from Australia. She has lived in Sussex, England for 20 years. She is very fond of England.

2. Sue defines British with the word polite, very predictable, and considerate. She also says that the climate is different and that it shifts fast, there could be sunny and not a cloud in the sky and 10 minutes later there could be raining cats and dogs. She would say that the standard is old fashioned, but she also says that it has an old charm to it.

3. She says that the housing is similar and ordinary, they all have the kitchens, bedrooms, stairs, and bathrooms in the same place. But she also says that they have different colored front doors, so you can tell which house is.

4. The pub has an extremely important role in Britain. It is like a second home for them. They would rather book a table and eat dinner with their guest there than invite them to their own house.

They are more common on the countryside, because in the city they are being more and more replaced by wine bars.

5. She means that in her opinion you need to go farther out and see the country than just London. She expresses this by saying London is a metropolis, and to see more of the traditions and nature you have to travel further out to the countryside.

6. She mentions them because even though they are very close to each other they all have different cultures and traditions.

They would be deeply offended if you called them “British”, and some would even get so offended and angry with you that they would hit you.

7. She defines British identity with basic decency and a marvelous humor. She is very fond of England, and its culture.

8. She mentions cricket because she thinks it is a very English game, and it is very formal, and if you watch one game you can see how their culture and traditions are executed.
