Innledning
Statistics show that 33% of all people in America has a firearm at home. That means that every third person has access to a weapon at every time.
In 2020 alone over 45 000 people was killed in America because of gun violence, this number is extremely high, especially if you compare it to countries that doesn’t have equally easy access to firearms, like for example Norway.
The same year it died over 40 000 people in USA, whereas only 28 died in Norway. Of course, one must consider that there is a lot more people that live in USA then in Norway, but the percentage is still a lot higher.
According to 2022 statistics, fire-arm related death rate per 100 thousand population was less than 1,5 in all the Scandinavian countries, whereas in the US almost 11 people were killed by firearm per 100 thousand. Only Brazil had higher death rates than the US.

Should guns really be available for everyone? Even kids? This is a question that has been debated for a long time in America. People are getting shot and killed every day because of guns.
A common slogan in America is “the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”.
This means that everyone should have a gun so they can protect them self, and this is a view deeply entrenched in American Culture. But if everyone has access to a gun, that means the bad guys have it too.
Guns that are meant to be used for safety, can be used to kill innocent people. Not just people but kids. 1 in 3 families with children in the US have at least one gun in the house.
Every year thousands of children die or get injured from guns stored in the house. Healthychildren.org states that “In 2020 alone, at least 125 toddlers and children age 5 and under shot themselves or someone else.”
In addition to unintentional shootings among kids and young adults, there has over the years been a series of school shootings in the US.
