Is Macbeth a thoroughly representative human being?

William Shakespeare is said to be the most successful playwright of all time. One of his most famous plays, Macbeth, is known all over the world.

The reason why may be that the story is thrilling and breathtaking, however do people relate to the protagonist, Macbeth? Is that one of the reasons why the play is still relevant?

To begin with, what are the main values in Macbeth’s life? According to me, this is a very important question in order to understand what kind of mindset he has and what he thrives for in life.

Power and wealth are two great aspects of Macbeth’s life. His urge for power is stronger than anything else, except one thing; the love for his wife, Lady Macbeth.

Macbeth is willing to do anything for his wife. This tragic flaw of his is what Lady Macbeth takes advantage of throughout the play.

He becomes quite ingenuous around her and teams up with her no matter what her plan is. We can definitely tell from the beginning of the play, that Macbeth knows right from wrong.

He is not comfortable being a criminal after all, nevertheless he chooses to commit these vicious acts because of his urge for power and the love for his wife.

Secondly, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth have a lot in common. They both have a great obsession for power, and they are willing to do anything to achieve their ambitions.

The difference between the two, is that Macbeth is a lot less wicked and he is not as superficial as her. Lady Macbeth is very manipulative and quite selfish.

The interesting thing about her, is that she makes other people commit cruel deeds instead of doing it herself. It seems like she is quite uncomfortable being a criminal as well, but not as uncomfortable as Macbeth.
