Innledning
Good afternoon, everyone. I'm Sofie Poulsen, a student studying American culture and history at Boston University in Massachusetts.
I am delighted to be here today to share my perspective on the current debate on immigration in the US, and I hope you find it enjoyable.
But before we begin, I'd like to conduct a quick poll. Those of you who believe immigrants should stay away from our country, even during times of economic weakness, please raise your hands.
Thank you. It seems that constitutes a fair minority, which aligns with the increasing number of immigrants in the United States—a point I'll be discussing today.
Utdrag
In my presentation, I will delve into the details of Donald Trump and The White House's opinions regarding immigrants' impact on American identity, economy, and culture.
We will explore the pros and cons of their approach to immigration. I'm looking forward to an insightful discussion.
I'll reserve 5-10 minutes at the end of my speech for questions, so please save any inquiries until then. Now, let's dive into this important topic. Thank you.
Ladies and gentlemen, we now come to an essential topic on our agenda that deserves our attention: Donald Trump and The White House's stance on immigrants and their impact on American identity and culture.
Despite a 70% decline in immigration from 2018 to 2019, President Trump continues to advocate for further restrictions on immigration, a stance that experts attribute to the administration's policies and the president's unwelcoming tone.
It is concerning to see the president making such statements about another race, especially when a significant portion of the nation comprises immigrants.
Donald Trump believes he is preserving American culture and identity, as evident from The White House's decision to reduce refugee admissions to just 18,000 in the coming year, a substantial decrease from the 110,000 that President Barack Obama proposed in 2016.
