Description of the Plot
I have read Tomorrow, When the War Began. This is not a book I would give to a child and ask him or her to read.
By that I mean that the book can at times border on adult literature. But it's not a problem for me. It just helps spice up the story a bit.
Tomorrow, When the War Began takes place in the fictional town of Wirrawee in Australia. A group of seven teenagers decide to go on a camping trip during the Christmas holidays.
They end up on Hell, an untouched piece of nature with a scary history. There are rumors that an old murderer lived there.
During the five days they spend in Hell, the world as they knew it changes drastically. When they return home, they find all their domesticated animals dead or starving, and all the houses empty.
It doesn't take long for the teenagers to realize that the country has been invaded, and that all the people are in captivity, or worse, dead.
They have a choice. They can go back to Hell and hide until the war is over, they can surrender, or they can fight as guerillas, doing everything they can to put the invaders back. They decide on the latter.
