The Internet is Becoming the Town Square

Utdrag
The Internet is Becoming the Town Square:
Bill Gates once said, “The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow” (Xplore Inc, 2018).

In our modern days, the Internet has become the most influential tool of communication. With the increasing use of Internet, people who do not have access fall behind.

The UN states that access to Internet can play a role in reducing poverty and inequality.

However, can access to Internet have such a significant impact on society?

In this text I am going to discuss what role access to the Internet plays in society, and use information from Appendix 3 to illustrate my points.

Poetic Devices Used in The Veil and Their Effects:
The Veil is a song written by songwriter and human rights activist, Peter Gabriel.

The song was written to be played at the end of a movie regarding national security.

In this text I am going to briefly comment on the poetic devices used in The Veil and their effects on me.

The Information Society:
In my opinion, the cartoon in the booklet represents the information society.

According to the website yourdictionary.com, the definition of the information society is “a society where the creation and use of information plays a critical role in politics, culture and the economy.”

(LoveToKnow Corp, 2018). The benefits of living in the information society are endless, however, it is more important now than ever to be critical and observant.

The reason why is because we are constantly inundated with information that we have to analyze in order to detect misinformation.

The cartoon illustrates that people tend to gravitate towards the misinformation because it is more accessible than the proper information, and according to me, that is the message.
