Innledning
Tears streamed down Paul Edgecomb's face as he watched the movie. Overwhelmed by emotions, he excused himself and stepped outside.
Suddenly, his friend Elaine appeared beside him, concerned about his well-being. Paul confided in her, telling her about John Coffey and the heart-wrenching story that had moved him to tears.
Utdrag
During the execution of Eduard "Del" Delacroix (played by Michael Jeter) in the movie, "The Green Mile," Percy, a prison guard, breached the agreement by not wetting the sponge used for the electric chair.
Instead, he left it dry, causing the sponge to burn and emit a foul odor, making the spectators leave the room.
Just before the execution, a violent prisoner named "Wild Bill" Wharton (played by Sam Rockwell) arrived to be executed for killing several people during a robbery.
During the encounter, John Coffey, a death row inmate with a special gift of reading people's thoughts and memories, discovered that Wharton was the real killer of the two girls for which John was wrongly convicted.
John transferred a deadly disease from Hal's wife to Percy, who shot and killed Wharton. This act caused Percy to lose control and be placed in a mental hospital as a patient.
Paul, a prison guard who had grown close to John and realized his innocence, asked John what he wanted him to do.
Despite being offered the chance to escape, John refused, saying he was ready to die because of the pain in the world.
However, when Paul asked if John had a last wish, John revealed that he had never seen a movie before and wanted to watch one before his execution. The movie he watched made Paul cry, leaving a lasting impression on him.
