The focus of my essay will be on the underlying theme of William Blake's poem, along with its intended meaning.
Although the theme may initially seem elusive, close examination of the poem's content provides helpful clues that allow for a clearer understanding of its central idea. Ultimately, through careful analysis, the theme of the poem can be confidently inferred.

Furthermore, an interesting feature of the first two stanzas of the poem is the use of matching end rhymes, which creates a clear and predictable rhythm. For example, the end rhymes "seen" and "green" in the second lines of each stanza contribute to this effect, as seen in the phrases "I never had seen" and "play on the green."
However, this rhythmic pattern is disrupted in the third stanza, where there are no end rhymes. Instead, the rhyming occurs within the second line of each couplet, as in the phrase "And priests in black gowns were walking their rounds," where "gowns" and "rounds" provide the internal rhyme.
Significant alterations take place between the first and second stanzas of the poem. In the initial stanza, the word chains predominantly consist of positive and natural words, with only a single mention of religion.
However, in the second stanza, the tone shifts towards more dynamic and eventful language. In addition to natural and pleasant words, there is an increase in religious language and the inclusion of negative terms.
