Innledning
On the 20th of February, in Aberdeen, Kurt Donald Cobain made his entrance into the world. His mother was of Irish descent and his father of German descent.
At the time of Kurt's birth, his mother was working as a cocktail waitress, but she decided to give up her job to take care of her two children, Kurt and his older sister Kim.
His father, Donald, worked as an auto mechanic, but the family never struggled financially. Even though their home was located in a less-than-desirable neighborhood, it was still considered the nicest house in the area, thanks to Donald's efforts.
He poured all his spare time and resources into improving the house's appearance and making it respectable.
Utdrag
Kurt made the decision to drop out of Aberdeen High School just weeks before graduation because he knew his grades were not good enough.
His uncle was angry with him for dropping out and told him he needed to support himself. With no education, Kurt struggled to find well-paying jobs and often found himself working in cheap restaurants.
Despite his efforts, he never found much success in any of his jobs and never held onto any job for too long.
In 1986, Kurt's luck began to change when he met Krist Novaselic, a bass guitarist, and they started playing music together.
They quickly realized they needed a drummer and found Dave Grohl after posting advertisements around town.
The band they formed was named Nirvana, after the Buddhist paradise. Their first single, released in 1988, was not a huge success, but it did turn a profit. They released several more singles the following year, but none of them gained much traction.
In 1991, Nirvana finally caught their big break when they signed a contract with Geffen Records and released their album "Nevermind".
The album became a huge success, with their single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" becoming the most popular single in the UK for three weeks.
However, Kurt struggled to handle the newfound success and often tried to discourage fans from buying their records or attending their shows.
This was partly due to his belief that many of their fans were not true fans, only drawn to the band because of the popularity of "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
