Summary of novel
The animals in the book launch a rebellion against their human overlord, Mr. Jones, at the outset of the story.
They are weary of their relentless toil and inadequate nourishment. With Jones gone, the creatures are initially buoyant and hopeful.
But as time passes, the pigs, who possess the highest intellect among the animals, amass excessive power. By the conclusion of the tale, the pigs have transformed into beings resembling their initial foe - human beings - who had been their adversary from the outset of the uprising.
The novel commences on Manor Farm, though the precise year remains undisclosed.
One might expect the story to culminate on Animal Farm, but it deviates from this expectation and concludes where it commenced - on Manor Farm, roughly three years subsequent to the initial rebellion.
In my view, the novel does not have a solitary main character, as the narrative tracks the progress of the entire farm during the uprising. However, if I were to identify main characters, I would single out Boxer and Napoleon.
Character comparisons
Name: Napoleon
Age: Young
Appearance: At the commencement of the uprising, he emerges as one of the leaders amongst the animals.
Occupation: One of the leaders in the story is Napoleon.
His purpose within the world of the novel: Napoleon, the ambitious pig, craves absolute power and desires to possess everything for himself, showing little concern for the non-pig creatures inhabiting the farm.
He appears to prioritize his own wants and needs above all else, regardless of the impact it may have on the other animals.
