Yet, I never of the story of a man that went by the name Henry Sugar. In this essay, I am going to present elements like characterization including a comparison between the two main characters.

Utdrag
Khan possesses the supernatural yogic powers he wanted to acquire for selfish reasons. (p. 108 – 109).
When the inveterate gambler, Henry Sugar, finishes reading the interview with Imhrat Khan, he was fired with the same motive of increasing his fortune.
After following the same instructions of the Indian yogi Banerjee for three years, he develops the same ability to see without his eyes and incorporates this feat into his conjuring act in never unintentionally losing a gamble.
In comparison to Khan, after a large victory of £6,600 his first day followed by an encounter with a policeman that criticized him for wasting money by tossing it out of the window and causing disturbances, Sugar realizes he wants to take an alternative route than fame and greater fortune.
He formulates a plan for building orphanages to make good use of the money, which is an important difference between the two characters.
However, both Sugar and Khan die as a possible result of revealing the secrets of meditation or abusing the supernatural yogic powers.
There are several imaginable literary themes the displayed in this story. The main theme is the antagonist: greed. As mentioned earlier, both Henry Sugar and Imhrat Khan acquired the yogic powers for selfish reasons.
Considering the protagonist character’s possessive attitude towards prosperity and material wealth, personal superiority complex, and not to mention the maladaptive behavior patterns such as gambling, it becomes clear that he suffered from the detrimental effects of unrestrained greed.
A person dominated by greed often ignores the harm of their actions and its consequences on an internal and external level.
This natural force of human nature was Sugar’s biggest obstacle and made him struggle for unnecessary demands like a greater public image for better satisfaction.
