Innledning
Imagine Envision a world plagued by prolonged drought, home to millions of climate refugees, devoid of hundreds of once-thriving animal species, where the nearest thing to snow is a mere drizzle, food rationing has become the norm, and extreme weather fluctuations are now part of our daily lives.
This grim scenario could very well become our future if we fail to take immediate action against the looming threat of climate change.
Utdrag
These are all harbingers of the climate crisis, and one can only imagine what lies ahead if this is just the dawn of our ordeal.
Our annual CO2 emissions continue to surge, with no miraculous disappearance in sight. CO2 is gradually absorbed through photosynthesis in plants or gets trapped by the oceans, and experts estimate that it will take a minimum of five years for the CO2 we're emitting today to dissipate.
Consequently, the more CO2 we release into the atmosphere, the longer it lingers and accumulates. There exists a finite threshold beyond which the planet can no longer endure, and we're recklessly pushing those boundaries every single day.
