Innledning
The location of Cuba is south of the United States in the Caribbean Sea. In the fifty’s Cuba was ruled by Fulgencio Batista´s regime, which had connections with the United States of America.

A lot of Americans invested money in the Cuban sugar production, and the island was also a popular holiday area.

Fidel Castro and his guerrilla soldiers had been in a war with Batista in some years. They took the power in Cuba in 1959.

Castro started socialist politics and they nationalized banks, industries and plantations. The nationalization led to huge reactions in The United States, which started a trade embargo between Cuba and the USA.

The trade embargo led to a close alliance between the countries Cuba and the Soviet Union.

Many US politicians wanted to provoke a war, but JFK chose to set an ultimatum. It was a hard decision to make.

The UN- representative would create and solve the conflict peacefully. The head of the air force would off course use the aircraft.

The leader in the military would do an invasion. And the navy chief wanted a blockade around Cuba.

It wasn't only a hard decision for John f.kennedy, it was also hard to keep the press away, and not let the soviet hear about the plan US made.

John f. Kennedy demanded that the Soviet should remove the missiles, and if they didn’t listened, he would go to war.

United States of America discovered Soviet freighters with missiles on the way to Cuba. US demanded the cargo ships to turn around, and if they did not, the country would attack the Soviet Union.

While a whole world kept their mouth shoot, the two superpowers made secret negotiations.

One nuclear war was close, and many were afraid a third World War should arrive, but in the last moment, the soviet sourced the nuclear missiles.
