The following day, a deluge of letters arrived at the house, but Harry's uncle Vernon intercepted them and promptly burned them in the fireplace.
Despite Vernon's efforts, the letters kept coming from every possible direction in the house, but none of them made it into Harry's hands.
Eventually, Vernon gave the family a mere five minutes to pack before they were hastily driving away in their car.
They drove erratically, changing directions frequently, all the while Vernon grunting orders to "shake them off."
Finally, after several hours of anxious driving, they arrived at a lake. Vernon approached a man and returned to the car with a satisfied grin, informing the family that they were allowed to borrow a hut on the sea.
After borrowing a small, old boat, they reached a chilly hut constructed from rough rocks. Harry rested on the hard ground, while Dudley luxuriated on the sofa.
Meanwhile, Vernon and Petunia occupied the upper floor for themselves. Late at night, Harry was eagerly awaiting Dudley's birthday while keeping a watchful eye on his cousin's clock.
As soon as the clock struck midnight, a loud bang startled everyone in the house. It seemed like the noise had awakened the Dursleys, and before Harry knew it, the door was knocked down and a gigantic man appeared in front of them.
Vernon, terrified, warned the man that he was armed, but the stranger simply apologized and repaired the door before taking a seat on the sofa.
To Harry's surprise, the man revealed that he was a wizard and that there was a school for him and others like him.
Overwhelmed by the news, Harry questioned the possibility of being a wizard, only for Vernon to abruptly interrupt and forbid any further conversation on the matter.
Despite Vernon's objections, the man, who introduced himself as Hagrid, handed Harry a new letter and urged him to read it.
