Innledning
British politics is a so-called first-past-the-post system. In order to provide an example explaining this, I must first quickly explain how the political system works in Britain.
First off, in the elections, the population of Britain will vote in order to choose who should be given a seat in the House of Commons.
There are 650 seats in the House of Commons, and so there are 650 Members of Parliament. Moreover, Britain is divided into 650 constituencies, so clearly, each MP represents one constituency.
In every constituency, the inhabitants will be given a list of names, for whom they may vote. The candidate who wins the vote, will be an MP.
So, let’s provide an example of this. For example, we may have a look at Hampstead and Kilbum, a constituency located in London.
