Innledning
Ragnar sought refuge behind a towering tree, his body aching from the endless running and a sharp pain pulsating from his injured left arm.
As he sat there, he questioned his decision to come to this place and couldn't help but wonder about Lia's whereabouts. Trembling with fear, he felt guilty for not being able to assist her in her time of need.
Suddenly, a loud groan pierced the silence, jolting Ragnar out of his thoughts. He looked to his right and was met with the sight of a zombie lurking next to him.
Reacting quickly, he reached for his flail and swung it at the zombie, severing its arm. With a fierce determination, he struck the zombie once more, reducing its head to dust.
His heart racing, Ragnar peered out from behind the tree and saw Lia in dire straits, surrounded by hordes of zombies and skeleton warriors.
Despite her best efforts to fend them off with spells, she was quickly running out of options to escape their clutches.
Utdrag
After braving the wilderness for five grueling days, the weary travelers finally arrived at the small farming community of Crimson, located east of the bustling metropolis of Nyx.
Seeking refuge from their long journey, they made their way to the local tavern known as "The Crippled Griffon inn". As they entered, they couldn't help but notice a rowdy group of adventurers consisting of humans, dwarves, and a gnome, deep in their cups and boisterously enjoying themselves.
One of the dwarves recognized Ragnar and greeted him warmly. "Eberk, my old friend, it's good to see a familiar face." After exchanging pleasantries, Ragnar explained their urgent mission and asked for Eberk's assistance.
Without hesitation, the dwarf pledged his help, and they quickly set off towards the city of Kyrasis, also known as the "City of Immortal Doom".
Kyrasis was infamous for being the site of a legendary battle between the powerful undead rulers, Vecna and Kas, centuries ago. The group was certain that Kas was headed there, and they needed to act fast to prevent him from wreaking havoc.
As they approached the abandoned necropolis, the air was thick with the stench of decay and death. The darkness enveloping the city was so pervasive that even the mountains in the background appeared as a mere silhouette against the gloom.
It was said that no man had ever walked out of Kyrasis alive, and those who dared to venture into Vecna's palace would be cursed with an undead existence.
