Innledning
The most unforgettable day in my life, a significant moment for us, African Americans. I can recall that day as vividly as if it unfolded just yesterday.
It happened on a Thursday as I boarded the bus for my journey home. As was customary, I took my seat at the back of the bus, where the designated seats for colored people were located.
The bus ride was typically quiet and long, and on this day, there were two other black passengers, a man by the window, and a woman sitting beside me.

The woman took a seat in one of the white seats as if it were the most natural thing in the world, showing no sign of discomfort.
It felt like a rush of triumph, but there was an undeniable sense of unease. What would happen now? No one had ever dared to challenge the status quo like this before.
The white passengers on the bus stared at her as if she were insane. A man who had just boarded the bus and witnessed the unfolding events approached her seat.
He cleared his throat and politely asked her to vacate the seat. She continued to gaze out of the window, seemingly oblivious.
